What To Look For

What to look for in a solar installer

We only quote tier 1 CEC approved products and we do not downgrade the products quoted during installation. We may not be the cheapest quote, but we will let the result speak for itself.

Look at whether the retail company and their sub-contract installers are CEC accredited. Pivotrom is.

Is the retailer/seller a CEC approved retailer? Not many companies have this. Pivotrom does.

Understand how the liability for your installation is shared between the retailer and the installer. No problems with Pivotrom. We do not sub-contract any work. We design, supply and install with our own full-time staff.

What warranties does the retailer/installer offer? Pivotrom provides a 5 year warranty on operation and performance of your system including products and workmanship.

Solar PV systems vary in price and the CEC strongly recommends that you do your research on the technology, installer and warranty to ensure you get the most out of your system based on your needs.

You may wish to consider monitoring and after sales maintenance agreements for larger investments.

GET AN ESTIMATE

Have you performed due diligence checks on your installer/supplier?

Does your installer/designer have CEC Accreditation and current electrical licences? Is the company a signatory to the Solar Retailer Code of Conduct? Have  you checked ASIC to ensure they are legitimate and currently  registered?

What experience do they have in commercial installations?

How long have they been in the solar industry? How many systems similar to yours has the designer/ installer completed? Will they conduct the work themselves or sub-contract parts out? If so, what contractual agreements are in place to protect you? What is explicitly included and excluded? If comparing quotations, am I comparing like for like? Does the quoted price look to good to be true? Are all obligations, responsibilities and liabilities clear?

The financial calculations

Have they provided a detailed analysis of load and generation? Are the returns  consistent with CEC guidelines?

Get In Touch

Give us a call or send us an email: If you haven’t had the chance to meet with us yet, contact us using the details provided to express your interest in our services. All we need from you is a copy of a recent electricity bill to get started.

Planning

We will take an aerial image of the proposed installation site to check for orientation with respect to the sun’s path and for any shading obstructions that would need to be taken into account.

Report

We will use this information to conduct a “desktop” study and produce an “Estimation Report”

The Next Step

If you show genuine interest in proceeding further, we would then make a site inspection to obtain some more detailed information. This usually involves speaking with informed representatives of the client about power consumption of the facility and any queries we may have about power usage profiles in the accounts.

Providing Details

The only obligation that the client has up to this point is to provide access to their site and time with specified staff. The client will most likely be asked to provide some electrical schematics, building general arrangements and roof structure detailed drawings if they are available.

More Information

We will also take the opportunity to incorporate other information from the client such as growth plans that would require additional capacity etc.

Audit

Armed with the collected information, we will complete our “energy audit” and proposed design. We will design a system to be aligned with the client’s objectives and expectations.

Quotation Report

Any points identified will be highlighted as a part of our Fixed Price Quotation Report. This does not prevent you from making enquiries with other companies before you decide to commit with us..

Install

If you are satisfied with our quote, we will proceed to order, install and connect your solar system.

Maintain

Over the lifetime of the system, we will monitor your new installation, ensuring that it is operating to standard
