An electrical energy audit is a systematic assessment of current electrical energy needs and energy use practices.
The same principles apply to residential audits as to commercial/industrial audits. Audits can be classified as “preliminary audits” (walk through audits), or, Detailed audits (diagnostic audits) Preliminary audit includes gathering readily available data and a simple analysis of energy usage. We conduct these audits as a stand-alone activity but mostly as an integrated part of our PV solar system site inspection work. Diagnostic audits require more detailed data such as interval monitoring of energy consumption over time. It also involves assessment of the major “energy items” and the management activity of items that are high energy consumers. Examples would include air conditioning units, pumps and lighting. For commercial or industrial sites examples would include fans, blowers compressed air.
